Cold Store Supervisor

Department Operations Base 10 Merino Avenue, City Deep, Johannesburg South, 2197
Contract Permanent Reports to Cold Store Manager and Managing Director
Hours Monday – Friday, 07:00 – 17:00 and 18:00 – 04:00

 

Minimum Qualification and Experience

  • 3 Years’ experience in warehouse management
  • Minimum of 3 years hands-on operational experience in a cold storage environment
  • Experience in warehouse administration, resolving queries and receiving
  • Ability to work shifts, overtime and must be able to travel for training
  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Related qualification advantageous
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite

Main Duties/Key Results Areas

  • To prepare the cold store for receipt of merchandise and unload trucks
  • Ensure receiving loads match the receiving documentation & report any deviations
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices
  • To assure the safety of self, customers and co-workers by understanding and practicing store safety rules and immediately notify the supervisor/ food safety team leader of any potential hazard
  • To perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by supervisors and manager, substituting for absent workers and performing any additional tasks necessary to provide products and services to customers during peak periods of business
  • To understand the operation, safety requirements and restraints of a pallet jack and forklift (must be 18 years or older to operate the pallet jack and forklift)
  • To use stacking techniques that will prevent damage to product
  • Ensure adherence to OHS ACT, food safety requirements and use the company’s disciplinary guidelines as a medium to drive improved results
  • Ensure that the company is professionally represented by its ambassadors (cold store staff relevance) through training, dress code rules and other relevant interventions
  • Nurture a mature and motivated staff complement through continuous training and interacting with staff at all organisational levels
  • Develop and review standard operating procedures for your area
  • Ensure import requirements are met and non-conformances communicated
  • Ensure assets are maintained and accounted for at all time
  • Assist with state vet product inspections, sampling or audits
  • Enforce compliance to food safety policies and procedures
  • Assist food safety team with internal audits, external audits and applicable training – (if required)
  • Any other tasks necessary for the conduct of the employer’s business, as the employer may from time to time direct.
